Registering Personal Printers, Gaming and Streaming Devices on ResNet and UB Wi-Fi

Before you can begin connecting devices like gaming consoles, smart TVs and printers to our network, you lot need to register them with your computer through the UB My Devices Portal.

Operating System: Gaming device, Boob tube, Chromecast, Roku, Apple tree TV, wireless printer or other devices

Location: ResNet and UB Wi-Fi areas

Applies To: UB students, faculty, staff, researchers

Instructions

Registering Your Device

ane. Using your computer, connect to Wi-Fi (eduroam) OR ResNet. Do non try to connect the device you lot are registering to the Internet yet.

ii. Open your figurer's web browser and get to connect.buffalo.edu

3. Click Register a Device.

four. Enter your UBITName and countersign and click Log In.

5. Enter the following:

  • Give your device a name that allows y'all to identify it, e.g. Jane Doe's Chromecast).
  • Enter the MAC accost of your device. (This can be constitute in your device'southward Settings or on the packaging. Some devices, such as Apple tree TV, label the MAC address as the Ethernet ID (employ for ResNet) or Wireless ID (use if device is connected to Wi-Fi).
  • For Apple tree Television set, Chromecast and printers, be sure to select Enable AirGroup.

6. Click Create Device.

vii. Connect your media device to UB_Devices

Sharing Your Registered Device with Others

You are able to share access to your registered devices, such as a printer or your Apple tree TV, with others, limiting admission past registering their UBITNames to your device registration:

  1. Afterwards registering a device (see above), click Manage my devices, select a device, Tv or streaming player from the list of registered devices and players at the lesser of the screen and click Edit.
  2. Check Enable AirGroup.
  3. Enter the UBITNames of the people you want to share a device with (separated by commas).
  4. Click Update Device.

Editing or Removing Devices from Registration

ane. In either a UB ResNet or UB Wi-Fi area, using a registered reckoner, open a Spider web browser and become to the UB My Devices Portal.

2. Enter your UBITName and countersign and click Log In.

iii. Click Manage and Create Devices.

4. Select a device or player from the listing of registered devices and players at the lesser of the screen and click:

  • Edit to modify its registration information.
  • Delete to remove a device from registraiton.
